Frankie Crowned Champ of Hang 8 Dog Surfing Extravaganza at The Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach
Frankie The Surfing French Bulldog from Flagler Beach was crowned Champion of the Small Dog Division at the 2026 Hang 8 Dog Surfing Extravaganza at The Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach. The 2026 event was moved from Flagler Beach to Daytona Beach due to the Flagler Beach Pier construction project.
Frankie muscled his way through many surfing runs thanks to his surfing buddy - Alex Leif - and his personal lifeguard Matthew Wolf. Most of the surfing runs went well. Some did not. His best surfing trick of the day was what we can call The Frankie Reverse Move. He started out on the surfboard facing away from the shore. While surfing, he pivoted in a 180 degree angle to ride the board to the shore. In recognition of his stellar efforts and rad surf moves, Frankie took home First Place honors. His best buddy in the world - Oliver - also spent the morning riding the waves and earned a respective Second Place finish and trophy in the Medium Dog Division.
It was a great day at the beach and for the community of dogs and humans for Daytona Beach and for all of the residents of Flagler Beach who traveled to the event. The venue at the Hard Rock Hotel - Daytona Beach - was awesome. For the event, Frankie and Ollie's Surf Club was well represented by over 30 people sporting the Official Club t-shirts and there to cheer on Frankie, Ollie, Alex and Matthew. It was a team effort for sure.
Take a look at the photos from the great day of surfing, friendship, and community. Frankie and Ollie live with a mission to Play - Eat - Sleep - Repeat.
